The Queensland Party Police and Emergency Services spokesperson Darren Hunt has extended condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Senior Constable Damien Leeding who was killed in the line of duty.
“The Queensland Party supports the calls from Union President Ian Levers and ask the people of Queensland, and indeed Australia, to support the Queensland Government and Police Service in providing all the necessary assistance and support to Senior Constable Leedings’ family, friends and colleagues to cope with this tragedy. ”Mr Hunt stated
Mr Hunt, a former Queensland Police Officer who was medically retired from the Police Service after being assaulted on duty said he understands the pain being experienced by those close to Senior Constable Leeding.
Mr Hunt said “When a police officer gets killed in the line of duty 15,000 feel it, their family and friends feel it. To all the husbands, wives, partners, kids, family and friends of our men and women of the Queensland Police Service we appreciate the support that you give our police in their efforts to keep us all safe. To the brave men and women on the thin blue line we say the offenders that committed this heinous act are in the minority and the overwhelming majority of the community, support the job you do, and share your pain at this tragic time.”
