The more and more that comes out about CSG and the stuff ups and cover ups facilitated by this government beggar belief.
Here is the press release put out by our State Party Leader Aiden McLindon-
Contaminated water proves need for CSG moratorium State Leader of Katter’s Australian Party, Aidan McLindon, said today that revelations the Queensland Government gave approval for a CSG company to discharge toxic water into a natural waterway proved the urgent need for a moratorium on new coal seam gas approvals.
Origin Energy was granted permission to dump 17 chemicals into the Condamine River at levels toxic to animals and plants in June last year.
"It is not good enough that this approval was granted nearly 18 months ago and that it is only because of a media exposé that there will be an investigation. Queenslanders have lost confidence in the ability of the Queensland Government to regulate this industry," said Mr McLindon.
"I have been calling for a CSG moratorium for over a year and it continues to fall on the deaf ears of the ALP and LNP. These two parties only have wide eyes for the royalty revenues which they are falling over themselves to use for pork barrelling election promises."
"The future of Queensland is too important to continue with this madness. Katter’s Australian Party will impose a moratorium and halt all new approvals. This industry continues to lay waste to our Great Artesian Basin and destroying our agricultural industry which is unacceptable."
This blog is created to provide the people of Cairns with an alternative voice in the Cairns political scene apart from the major parties which have shown their loyalty is to their party machines ahead of the constituents of their electorate
ABOUT THIS BLOG
With a long family history that goes back many generations in this area it pains me to see the impact that government neglect is having on our area. The two major parties are simply not up to the job anymore. I can no longer sit back and watch this happen and have decided to run for the state seat of Cairns.
It is time we had a voice in parliament again, not puppets of faceless party machines from Canberra. By posting media releases on this blog the people of Cairns can determine if we have policies and concepts that they agree with.
I ask you to join me in ensuring that Cairns and Far North Queensland gets a fair go.
