It has now been shown that if committed fuel companies can deiver 85% ethanol blended fuels in Australia. It is considerably cheaper than regular fuel, WITHOUT a major ethanol industry in this state. If we take up this challenge and establish an ethanol industry up here the economies of scale would significnatly reduce production costs and therefore make the fuel even cheaper.
Car producers are finally coming to the party and developing engines that can run the 85% blend. It is time we seized this opportunity and diversified our economy and created new jobs, using a product we already grow and supporting the jobs of an industry we already have.
